Schools always say how they have nutrition guidelines, and that they proudly follow them. The food at the snack bar are all "healthy," and the lunch served is healthy too. Well that's all fine and good, but there's still a problem. There are kids who go eat lunch and then go to the snack bar every day. Even though they're eating healthier choices, their calorie intake is too much.
There isn't really much to do about this, except to inform the students about calorie intake. If they know that they shouldn't be going to the snack bar every day, then hopefully they won't. Also, there should be a limit on how much one person can buy. Three cookies and five bags of chips are very unhealthy. It doesn't matter what they're made of, it's just too much food.

I agree that students intake too many calories. The snack bar should mix up the fruits and vegetables each day so kids are getting new things to try.

Claire, I love how you make each of your blogs so interactive all the time, I just thought I'd start off with that. Also, I completely agree with you! Kids (and adults) today are eating way too many calories. If everyone would cut down on the junkfood and eat more nutrition-enriched foods, things would be much better obesity-wise.

I totally agree with you Claire! The school always follows the nutrition guidelines. It's the kids that don't want to eat healthy. I think students should have to eat something healthy. Also, love your interactive!

Claire has a nice idea, but I think kids are already aware they shouldn't be going to the snack bar every day to buy that much food. With all the recent uproar about eating healthy, it would be very hard not to. In, my opinion, if someone attempts to educate kids in healthy eating, the people who need it most would simply zone out, and it would be a waste of everybody's time. If kids want to eat unhealthily, let them.
